With over 15 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing and support, Mike brings deep knowledge, practical problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
Mike has played a vital role in nearly every stage of the manufacturing process. As our former Shop Fabrication Manager, he led teams through countless projects, gaining firsthand insight into the internal complexities of our equipment. Today, he applies that knowledge as our Sales and Installation Manager, assisting customers with equipment sourcing, setup, troubleshooting, and ongoing technical support.
Known for his dependable nature and solution-first mindset, Mike is passionate about building long-term relationships with customers. Whether he’s helping resolve an unexpected breakdown or ensuring equipment arrives and installs smoothly, Mike is committed to delivering safe and high-quality results.

As a third-generation leader in the company, Derek Niezen is deeply committed to continuing the family legacy of excellence in rollform equipment design and manufacturing. With over a decade of hands-on experience, Derek brings a unique blend of technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and customer-focused innovation to his role as Vice President of Business Development.
Derek’s journey through the company has taken him from the shop floor—where he fabricated and assembled machinery—to coordinating production schedules, leading technical sales, and heading up design efforts for the rollform equipment division. This well-rounded background gives him a deep understanding of every stage of the process, allowing him to provide tailored, effective solutions that meet both stringent safety standards and evolving technical requirements.
Derek is passionate about delivering the right solution for each customer. His focus is not just on selling equipment, but on helping clients grow their businesses through thoughtful engineering, responsive service, and long-term partnerships.

Sherylynn Smith is a third-generation leader at Ironside, proudly carrying on her family’s legacy of quality, innovation, and customer commitment. With over 20 years of experience at the company, she brings a rare combination of operational insight, people-focused leadership, cross-departmental expertise and strategic vision to her role as Vice President and General Manager.
She began at Ironside in Accounts Payable/Receivable, where she developed a strong understanding of the financial and administrative backbone of the business. After taking on the role of Quality Coordinator, she spearheaded the implementation of a full ISO 9001 quality management program., followed by acquiring her Human Resources Certificate and implementing a full HR program. She then moved into Production Support Coordination and Purchasing and eventually served as Director of Supply Chain, overseeing procurement strategies and aligning project sourcing with company goals.
Now serving as Vice President and General Manager, Sherylynn continues to drive the company forward with a deep respect for its history and a clear vision for its future—ensuring Ironside remains a trusted partner to customers and a great place to work.
Elmer Niezen
PRESIDENT
Elmer Niezen’s journey with Ironside began in 1982 on the shop floor, where he took on cleanup and support tasks as a young worker with a strong work ethic and a passion for craftsmanship. After earning his Steel Fabrication Certificate, Elmer quickly rose through the ranks to become Parts and Repair Shop Foreman, demonstrating strong leadership, technical skill, and a deep commitment to customer service.
Over the decades, Elmer has worked in virtually every area of the company—from fabrication and production to management and operations. His comprehensive understanding of Ironside’s processes, people, and customers has been instrumental in shaping the company’s growth and direction.
Elmer has continued to lead with integrity, experience, and a hands-on approach that reflects Ironside’s core values. With over 30 years of industry expertise, he remains a trusted resource for customers and a driving force behind Ironside’s commitment to delivering high-quality and reliable products and service.
